Recently there has been a boom in the popularity of antique Japanese fabrics. Especially many skirts and handbags are being made using fabric from antique kimonos. Unfortunately, antique materials are only one of a kind and it is impossible for them to ever be produced again.
We have attempted to faithfully reproduce traditional Kyoto fabrics using modern techniques. Through our methods we are able to reproduce the beauty of Kyoto Yuzen dyed materials at a reasonable cost, that can be manufactured and used again. One of our products is a Hitokoshi Chirimen material known for it's minute wrinkles which are smaller than standard Chirimen materials which has been specially ordered from weavers and Yuzen dyed.
Of course the materials that we use today differ from those that were used in the past, however we have made great efforts through repeated trials to produce high quality materials that have the look and feel of antique fabrics.
We market our Hitokoshi Chirimen product as a replica antique material, however we also screen dye the material with several representative Japanese designs and patterns such as 'Asa no Ha', 'Hitta', 'Ko Sakura', 'Yagasuri', 'Seikaiha', 'Ichimatsu' (Checked pattern), and 'Sayagata'. We also offer the material as solid colors too. |
